Jardim do Mar
Madeira 1870 Jardim do Mar Malvasia
Malvasia, Believed 1870, Recorked and rewaxed by Francisco Albuquerque
Provenance: Christies London, 3/16/2017
Tasting note: Intense nose of rose petals, bergamot and acacia, concentrated by long cask aging. Lovely fne sweet caramel note in the back. Subdued and fne. Rich full soft creamy start, silky seductively styled mouthfeel, some wood tones, intense and complex. Great after taste of rich fruits, some waxy tones, wood, well concentration fne favors. Really long and persistent. Great wine. An amazing discovery. June 2016. EV.

Madeira
The island of Madeira has been producing and exporting its namesake wine virtually since the Portuguese discovered it in 1419. Since then, Madeira’s location in the middle of important trade routes meant the success of its wines mirrored the worldwide geopolitical situation. The fortified wine’s fortunes have soared during times of peace, prosperity, and free trade and plummeted during conflict and international upheaval.
