Bold Armagnac since 1882

Old Liquors, Samalens, bottle

Founded in 1882 in Laujuzan, the heart of Bas-Armagnac, located in the region Entre-deux-Mérs by their great-grandfather Jean Salamens, Pierre and Philippe Samalens sons of Georges Samalens proudly carry on the company's family traditions and quality. They are considered specialists of the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, Armagnac. They exclusively distill wines from the best soils of the Bas Armagnac, in particular, the small area known as Grand Bas Armagnac.

Bas Armagnac

Old Liquors, Samalens, Barrels

Samalens source the wood for their new barrels from the local forests in Gascony. The wood is carefully aged at the estate for four to five years before turning them into the best possible barrels in which to age their Armagnacs. Coming from a family tradition 4 generations old, the Samalens house remains one of the only ones to select, distill and age itself its Bas-Armagnacs.

Old Liquors, Samalens, distillery

The eau-de-vie is still distilled in four authentic Armagnac alambics, which date back to the end of the 19th century. The greatest Armagnac comes from the Bas Armagnac, between the rugged Pyrénées mountains and the vast forests of the Landes. Here the sand and clay soil provide the base wines with the necessary acidity and bouquet to ensure a perfect distillation, a sweet but fruity and robust spirit that rounds with slow aging.
